It’s no secret— universities are dying.
Universities used to have the monopoly on knowledge— but they don’t have it anymore.
The Internet is now the open library of humanity’s knowledge.
So ask yourself, why do young people still go to universities?
The honest answer is they go to gain the credentials to work in law, finance, and tech.
So why not skip the university middleman?
In the next decade, well-respected companies will open their own educational programs.
Tech companies like Apple will open their own “Apple University” and hedge funds like Blackrock will open their own “Blackrock University”.
It’s here where proven youngsters will be refined by shadowing successful teams.
When knowledge is open— it becomes all about execution.
Admissions to these prestigious corporate “universities” will be based on personal projects verified on Github with open-source traction(along with one’s social skills)…
Admissions will not be determined by grades.
Most people don’t realize that the barrier to scaling for top companies— is talent.
And top companies have lost faith in universities to incubate talent.
Top companies would rather skip the university programming bullshit and bring talented young people in-house where they can incubate them and refine their talents.
If a talented young person receives an offer from Harvard and Apple…
Most people will choose Apple if their end goal is to work in tech.
If you were the CEO of a major tech company….
Would you rather hire a graduate from Harvard or Apple?
