Always Be Leveraged.
Types of Leverage:
Older people in their careers always seem like they “aren’t doing the work”, many always seem to be socializing with friends or on the phone.
Most of them are using the leverage of connections(labor). They rely on their 30+ years of connections to make magic happen.
Need a marketing campaign done or need an engineer?
They know someone.
Many older people in their careers also seem like they lounge around all day. These people tend to have loads of money invested. This is the leverage of capital. (bankers, legacy businesses, retirees etc.)
Large amounts of capital allow for passive cash flow, pricing power, etc. (ex. 100,000 batteries are cheaper per unit than 1,000)
Young people don’t have connections or capital.
We must rely on code.
Code means anything digital that requires a massive upfront development time cost and around zero added cost per new user. A.K.A scalability.
Code can mean building an app, distributing code, or producing online media(this is code too!).
Connections and Capital require permission – You need someone else to give them to you.
Code is permissionless leverage. No one is stopping you from building it. You just have to go out and do it.
And the doors to connections and capital will open.
You can still have a meaningful impact on the world without using connections, capital, or code…
But that impact will never be at scale. The greatest returns come from leverage. Use it.
